 Kathryn Playa, Editor of The Playa Wire, is an actress and philanthropist who holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree in theology. She was a high school religion teacher for 2 years in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and spent a year living at a mission in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, working to assist poor families.

Now residing in Los Angeles, Kathryn has contributed much energy to children and their causes. Ms. Playa is a volunteer in the Los Angeles Unified School District. and a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). She also is the CEO and founder of The Playa Foundation, whose mission is to support other non-profit organizations that nourish children's health, education and welfare.

In creating this e-magazine, it is Kathryn’s vision to provide a platform where people can come in order to find solutions to issues of concern in today's world.


Michael Allen, Assistant to the Editor of The Playa Wire, is a creative and versatile writer whose background includes TV, print and the web. Michael started his career in Washington D.C. as a video editor for WRC TV-4 and NBC Nightly News.

After moving to Los Angeles, Michael worked as a video editor and news writer for KNBC News where he contributed to local and national stories. Later, he segued into entertainment and wrote for five animated TV series on MTV, Nickelodeon and Fox Family. He also co-wrote a “King of the Hill” book (based on the Fox series) published by Harper Collins.

Michael has also served as a managing editor for a Los Angeles publication and was a copywriter on two award-winning advertising campaigns. These days he focuses on the web, working as a writer/editor/SEO consultant. You can learn more about Michael at his website: SanVicenteMedia.com
